How UCMR 6 Could Shape Future Drinking Water Regulations

EPA has proposed its Sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 6), which would monitor 30 unregulated drinking water contaminants from 2028–2030.

The proposal includes four new short-chain PFAS, pesticide metabolites, SVOCs, and VOCs. The data collected could help shape future drinking water regulations under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The latest Delve article covers:

  • The 30 proposed contaminants
  • Which public water systems would participate
  • Monitoring requirements and timelines
  • What the data could mean for future regulations
